Camilla is a freelance florist with over 15 years experience creating stunning floral compositions for weddings, functions and individual clients. Aviv is one of our KIN jewellery designers and her hand-cut pieces feature bunnies, wolves, owls & foxes roaming intricate, layered landscapes of silver, brass, bronze & copper. We knew the work of each of these talented creatives would complement the other, and our beautiful #SpringHasSprung windows are proof of another wonderful #KINcollaboration <3

April's Windows : Dioramas for the faint hearted by Flagg...

We've been excited for this exhibiton even before Flagg said the words "very large diorama" and anticipation has been steadily growing as she shared work-in-progress photo's on Facebook. After seeing it first hand this weekend, two things hit our minds simultaneously - 1) Flagg's diorama's never disappoint - each is as wonderful and absorbing as the very first and 2) the Very Large Diorama was, in fact, much larger and more fantastic than we could have imagined!

Flagg's spectacular diorama arrives at KIN on Kloof

All in the details - Flagg's creatures are wonderfully candid :)

What a visual treat the TRex's layered paper world is for our windows!

February's Windows : Make One to Take One

This month we've decided that our windows need to give away as much love as possible (it being Valentines Month and everything...)

The lovely Tas, who you all know from KIN on Kloof, has been talking about this amazing art-swap concept where art is traded for art and we all decided, it's now time...

And so we present to you our #Make1toTake1 windows!

The Concept

To begin with, we have all been doodling like mad (and forcing our friends to do the same :) and as a result, our windows are full of 100 drawings, sayings, paintings and bits of loveliness. Customers, designers, passers-by, staff - everyone is welcome to take a piece from the window if they make one in return and peg theirs up in its place.

We have a variety of pens & pencils and loads of blank sheets of art paper just waiting for you :)

Be brave, be bold, give a little of your time and give something beautiful to someone you don't even know! There is no right or wrong thing to draw / quote / write, but aim to inspire, encourage and rally everyone's spirits for this wonderful year ahead! And in return, pick an original piece that someone has drawn for you and that's waiting for you to come in and choose it from our windows.

Working with Live Eco last year, made us realise more than ever the beauty and importance of recycling, and our beautiful neon strings are actually made from hundreds (for real) of cardboard circles which were thoughtfully brought to us by one of our customers. With creative vision he said, "Can't you use these for a display?" We added a bit of neon paint, a splash or two of glitter and strung them up. Hope you like what your circles grew up to become, Robert :)

Pop into KIN on Kloof to see all this fun in person, be a part of our month of love and #Make1toTake1

Happy 2015!

What are our New Year's windows all about?

When we wondered what we should show off in our windows for January 2015, we remembered that we had one or two unused 2014 Schwarzie Diaries just waiting for their chance in the spot light. At our end of year Christmas feast in December (in between playing Dirty Santa and eating mounds of delicious snacks) we asked each of the angels to help with 2 tasks...

Task One :  think on an event / happening / circumstance that had occured during 2014 that you would really like to say goodbye to...find the exact day in the diary, tear the page out and to write a quick, private farewell then fold it up into a paper jet and let it go. Then repeat until all the unresolved bits of 2014 have been said farewell to and we all felt lighter and brighter.

Then, after a sip or two of champagne...

Task Two : imagine something that you really want to experience, find, happen during this beautiful, fresh year of 2015...write it down, fold it into an old-school letter and wish it in. And then repeat until the days ahead begin to glitter with hope, possibilities and really good ideas.

Using these precious farewells and wishes, we created our January windows - one saying farewell to the year that has been and one welcoming in the year that is before us.

2015 is going to be full of magical days and nights.
How do we know?
Well, because we wished it in of course!

Happy New Year everyone!
